Herb Dumpling Stew
2 pounds stew meat, beef or lamb
1/2 cup flour
3 tablespoons grease
2 onions
2 carrots, sliced in big pieces
4 potatoes, sliced
2 tomatoes, peeled and sliced
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 big lot fresh combined herbs, connected with a string
2 1/2 cups beef broth
Dumplings (see listed below).
Salt and pepper to taste.
Location herbs in middle of mix. While stew is cooking, make dumplings. Throughout last 20 minutes of cooking, include dumplings.
Makes 6 to 8 portions.
Dumplings.
6 cups self-rising flour.
1 cup fresh bread crumbs.
1 tablespoon combined herbs.
1/4 cup strong reducing.
1 egg, beaten.
Broth or water.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Mix dry components, then include reducing and egg, blending completely. Include to stew 20 minutes before stew is done.
Location herbs in middle of mix. Cover with broth, cook 2 hours over low heat. While stew is cooking, make dumplings. Throughout last 20 minutes of cooking, include dumplings. Include to stew 20 minutes before stew is done.
